I agree. Kindness and compassion go a long way in solidifying relationships- be it one on one or a nation with another nation. Our biggest failure, uin this administration is that the narcissism is all consuming.

I do like the reference to Melania's coat inscribed with the words, "I don't care." Her heart is as black as his.

Seeking first to understand what someone else(s) story is... Offering kindness before judgment.

Your definition works at the personal level, listening before judging and showing kindness in one-to-one relationships. But your post was aimed at something much bigger: nationalism, tyranny, and nations losing their soul. So is this just a call for better manners between neighbors, or are you pointing at something larger? Because if compassion at that scale only means ‘be nice,’ it does not match the weight of what you wrote.

Countries are just bigger people in my opinion. Are they inclusive (listening and learning from everyone. Are the kind? (welcoming to strangers and refugees) etc...

The culture of the country reflects the hearts of the people.

On a vibe level I’m with you. But if your compassion comes with an ask, it demands scrutiny and accountability.
