I was staring through my office window 12 years ago…
It was March in Portland, Oregon, and the endless drizzle was running like tiny tears across the window pane.
Life was tough. We had a newborn who had not slept well for months. I was sleep deprived and struggling with the uncertainty of launching a new business.
I promised myself that I would hustle like crazy and build a future for my family.
Perhaps you can relate…
Entrepreneurs create businesses because they want to build a thriving life for themselves and those closest to them.
We don’t want a boss, we want a life of our own.
We don’t want to have to ask for a pay rise, we want to be able to level up our income whenever we choose.
Sound familiar?
Somewhere in the middle of this, though, a grave mistake is made.
We may not have a boss, but we become slaves to our own business and our ambition.
Years later, I looked out a different window in Tairua, on the Coromandel Peninsula in New Zealand, and I made myself another promise…
Geoff, work harder, and take your business to the next level so you can spend more time with your family.
It was then that I heard the smallest voice inside me say…
“Spend time with them now, they won’t be children forever.”
It was like the sun burst through the clouds for the very first time. I had been thinking about this all wrong…
I had been listening to the richest gurus in the world spread the foulest lies. Hustle harder. Work longer.
The grind and grit culture is an addictive phenomenon that destroys more families than it saves.
Don’t believe me?
Look around, the chaos abounds.
I want to go back to the beginning of this post, where I was looking through the drizzle-covered window in Portland, Oregon.
And I want to take you back to those first few days when you launched your business or started your new career.
We both wanted something…
Freedom, yes, but more than that?
We saw a future where we were alive, connected, creative and inspired.
We imagined a successful life.
A life that was healthy and in flow.
A life where there was love and fresh air in our homes. A life where we were connected to many other energetic, life-giving souls.
No one imagined a lonely life of struggle and hustle.
No one dreamed about decades of long, isolated work so we can finally pop our metaphorical cherry in our 60s.
You want more life now.
You don’t want to waste days, months, years, and decades.
And your entrepreneurial work is an invitation not to hustle but to build incredible, meaningful connections with others.
Your work is an opportunity to have life-giving conversations every single day.
Your entrepreneurial spirit is calling you to build something amazing with others.
I am so excited about the work that I do.
I get to help soul-led entrepreneurs build incredibly inspired lives.
Easier lives.
More profitable lives.
Years with more fun, meaning, and flow.
That’s what we do in our Sphere Builder Academy.
We help people like you create all the relationships you need to thrive.
Lifelong, meaningful stuff that blesses you now and lasts forever.
Much love
Geoff. x
