This "ONE THING" Will Affect the Quality of Your Life and the Success of Your Business.
If you've never considered relational drift and the problems it causes you should.
Have you ever accidentally let a relationship drift?
Not stayed in touch?
Forgotten about a person who was supposed to be important to you?
I have.
There are a number of reasons why Relational Drift (TM) occurs. We get busy, we get anxious, we take people for granted, we assume that it is their responsibility to maintain contact etc.
It really hurts your business.
But the damage that it causes to the quality of your life is even more significant. It’s why there is a loneliness epidemic among middle-aged men right across the western world.
I wrote an article about it called, “The Antidote to Loneliness” here
The Point of No Return
As you can see in the sketch below, when it comes to building relationships there are 3 basic options:
A. The Red Line - You remain passive, inconsistent and transactional and continue to lose touch with people. Isolation will ensue
B. The Orange Zone - You remain present with people as they come into your life but you don’t actively and consistently build deeper relationships. We call this the average zone.
C. The Incredible Green Line - You choose to actively and consistently pursue relationships with the kinds of people who give you energy and who are good for your business.
As you can see from FIG 1, the decision you make today, on how you will care for the people in your life is very important.
As time passes, as relationships drift, the gap between the green and the red lines becomes incrementally greater… Until you reach the point of no return.
At this point, no matter what you do, the relationship is unequivocally changed forever and you can never get it back.
Which line will you choose to be on?
What Does This Mean? What Should You Do?
You have to choose to stay connected with the kinds of people who you truly resonate with.
Catalytic people who give you energy, people who are good for both your life and your business.
Don’t let people drift. Don’t let your relationships become static (the first sign of drift), there is always more to learn about the people in your life.
Stay connected.
If there is not a day in your calendar set apart for building relationships then you are probably doing it wrong.
For our paid supporters below ($9/month) I’ve put together a quick 5-minute video teaching on this.
