These are my children
Today is Father's Day in New Zealand.
Today, I choose to celebrate myself and what has been the most rewarding journey of my life.
They are without doubt, the most important two people in my life.
Gabriel and Rose.
Life asks a human being many questions, parenting asks you even more...
Who will you become under pressure?
When it's raining, when life is tough, when there is a lot of darkness all around you.
Will you push it back so that it does not touch those whom you love.
Will you fiercely and ferociously say... "Not today, these are the ones I love and they will thrive no matter what."
This is why, I celebrate myself, and the journey of many others through fatherhood today.
Parenting demands that you care about "another person(s)" more than you do yourself.
It calls you to grow up.
It asks you to stand up.
And yet it also asks you to live fully.
I've decided that the best thing I can do for my children is demonstrate what it means to be fully healthy and completely alive. To chase my dreams with a ferocity and love for life that is unquestionably passionate and compelling.
To live my example.
I"m doing pretty good actually. I ain't playing small or hiding anymore.
I'm taking on the world. I'm owning my mistakes. I'm laughing more and living bigger.
And all of it is for them.
Because these two... they are absolute world changers.
They carry a light inside them that will never be dimmed.
I love them so much.
Happy Father's Day.
