The REALTOR who could not be coached
Like a wild horse that could never be broken
Her name is April, she's the Realtor who could never be coached.
I love April.
She's become like a second mother to me, but boy, is she stubborn.
A real fire-cracker.
She's still on the good side of 70, but only just...
She WARNED ME when we first started working together, proudly stating...
"Geoff, I must tell you, I cannot be coached."
To be honest, I wasn't quite sure why she was paying me.
It turns out that what April detests is the "Hype Merchant Coach".
You know, let's get everyone on their feet, and let's get everyone dancing!
Just my opinion but that looks kind of dorky on a zoom call, and what if people are not wearing pants.
Anyway back to April, her challenge was based around the fact that she didn't like to be told what to do. She insinuated that she would kick like a mule if I tried any of that stupid shit.
Gosh, I love April.
She refuses to do things that break her code of ethics, that violate her moral compass, that don't look, feel and sound right to her.
April cares deeply about people.
She knows that she is in the "people-first" business and she won't do anything that is slippery, pushy or unkind.
And this is why she was the perfect client for me and has now become a great friend.
Everything, we do is about putting people first.
EVERYTHING.
It's actually the only game in town that lasts... forever.
So when I asked April, to reach out to a specific set of people on Facebook messenger using our Kindness Framework, she didn't kick me or try and bite. She went for it 1000%.
She did so well.
The people in her sphere absolutely loved getting messages from April. They sparked an almost infinite number of deep conversations.
April and her partner Dennis, are two of the most successful REALTORS in all of Ventura County, and they do it all by putting people first.
I'm so proud of both of them.
April, loves horses. I believe she has 46 of them but I am almost certainly exaggerating. So I want to finish this story by using an equine analogy.
There are some wild horses that appear untameable. No coach, or rider can break them in. You cannot put a twitch on their nose, a saddle on their back or a bit in their mouth.
Because they were never meant to be tamed.
It's their wildness that makes them great.
In this uncertain market, please don't hire a coach that tries to tame you, or change you, or make you into something you are not.
Instead, work with people who throw open the gate and let you run like the wind.
Lastly, if this resonates with you and you'd like to do some work together, then that's awesome.
Simply comment below with the word "INTERESTED" and we will have a simple conversation to see if you are just like April.
Be wild, be free and care deeply for people.
You will succeed. It's guaranteed.
Love Geoff. x
