Dear Bully,
Please accept this letter as formal notification of my intention to resign from my position as your victim in this life. In accordance with my notice period, my final day will be Friday, the 5th of December, 1992.
After this period, I will cease to be in your employment.
I would like to thank you for the opportunity to have worked as the object of your scorn for the entirety of our high school careers. I have learned a great deal during my time with you and from the people who willingly joined in as your teammates.
I will take a lot of what I have learned with me and use it for my own good. These lessons were never intended, but I have to power to take what I experienced and to use it for an immeasurable amount of growth.
My growth, not yours.
During the remaining portion of my life, I will do what I can to make sure that I am nobody’s victim ever again.
I will fight against all kinds of meanness, for I learned from you that bullying comes in many forms. It can be:
Discriminatory
Predatory
Harassment based
Racial
Sexual
Emotional
Psychological
Bully, it’s all bad, but the main thing I’ve discovered is this…
A bully may win the moment but they’ll never win their own freedom. They are trapped in their own deeply insecure and miserable world.
Many years later, I know your life bares witness to this.
However Bully, it’s not my job to set you free, to forgive you or to make you whole again. All I can do now is hand those duties over to you.
My time in your company has now ceased.
Sincerely,
Geoff x
