Irrelevance = Slow Death

You never want to be irrelevant with your marketing, social media or in your interactions with others.

It would be like having a cup of tea with my lovely old late mother, and trying to talk for an hour about her golf game.

She detested golf.

It would send her to her grave if she was not already there.

A horror show.

Irrelevance is everywhere in sales.

Especially so when your “primary goal” is not to build the relationship first.

How many of your social posts are actually relevant to the vast majority of your friends and followers?

Maybe they are not interested in real estate right now?

Perhaps “your brokerage” is not that important to the average consumer?

You can kill your brand, one irrelevant social media post at a time.

Here’s the truth:

If you want to be their preferred professional then you must get them talking directly to you.

Conversations count.

Are you currently talking with a wide range of people and building deep rapport within your community?

Is this happening every week?

Does the nature of your conversations change relevant to what’s going on in the world around us?

Or are you drinking tea and talking golf with my late mother… scaring her to death.

This matters so much.

Be relevant, be human, desire the conversation more than the transaction.


It doesn’t have to be deep, but it does have to connect.

So right now, relevance might be getting people to talk and share about Halloween and the experiences they’ve had in the past, and what they are going to do this year.
